What a year.......

Its raining, its pouring........... What a night it is. I am so glad we arent off down to the street party in Princes Street. It is blowing a gale and the rain is pouring down. Gone are the days when we would toddle off down there and head back to the house for a party at about 3am. To be honest I hate New Year. I havent always hated it. I liked it when I was a teenager and we would walk the streets going from party to party and getting drunker and drunker but now I would rather go to my bed at 10pm and get up on the 1st January. No doubt though Mark will make me stay up until after the bells. I said to him to go out with his friends but he didnt fancy it so it will be a quiet night tonight ( although have already had my first G&T of the evening).

What a day today. Our plan was to go to Morningside, get some pressies for Mark & Sakina's new son and also Stu & Wendy's new daughter who were both born on 15th Dec. We were then planning to go for some lunch, somewhere child friendly but as we were walking along to Morningside the heavens opened and we got totally soaked. We went to the shops I wanted to go to ( gorgeous little boutiques ) and they were all closed apart from one shop. We got a gorgeous little piggy bank for Stu & Wendys little girl Nina ( what a beautiful name) but I couldnt find anything boyish so we dont have any pressie for Mark & Sakinas little boy. As we were so wet and cold we decided to head back home and get something from M&S for dinner tonight so at the moment it is in the oven heating up. Archie is getting his bottle just now so once he goes down dinner will be served. Archie woke at 9.55am today ( OMG) so not sure if he will go down at 8pm as usual. Admittedly he was up during the night once as he has had a sore tummy for a few days so keeping an eye on that. Wee lamb.

Resolutions.........

Dont normally stick to them but will make a concious effort to keep to them in the new year. My first one is to stop smoking. I smoke about 4-5 ciggies a day but that goes down to less in the winter due to the fact that I sit out on my step when I want one and its too cold and the second is to lose weight. I started my Weight Watchers in early Dec and have so far lost 7 1/2 lbs. I will probably try and lose more weight before I give up the ciggies as I can imagine I will eat for scotland once I stop. Fingers crossed I manage to keep to both of these!!!!!

Hightlights of 2006.....

1. Seeing how Archie has grown into a gorgeous, kind and loving little boy. I love him so much my heart just melts when he cuddles me
2. Moving into my dream home. I said to hubby what I wanted when we moved and he said there was no way I would get all of what I wanted. On my list was garden, somewhere to park the car outside the house, ground level, old traditional house, at least 2 bedrooms prefer 3. What we got was an old victorian house lower level with on street parking, 2 double bedrooms and 1 single room with a boxroom and a garden. I just lurve my house and dont intend to move from here for quite a while. Hubby has even said they will be moving him out in a box.

Anyway I think I have blethered enough so am off to serve my dinner and celebrate the last day of 2006. Hope you all have a fantastic new year and will update in 2007

Take care

!!!!!!!!!

Right that obviously never worked so will have to try and see if I can work this out before I add pictures.......... Told you I was a techno phobe

The calm before the storm.....

This is a picture of the table before everyone had sat down to eat. The after picture is a bit different!!!!!!!

Phew........

Thought I was never going to get this up and running. Have been meaning to create a blog for some time now but have just never got round to it ( and I am a bit of a techno phobe and try to avoid doing anything like this usually!!!!) god I sound like an old women dont I !!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the festivities. We have had a fantastic christmas. We had 14 for christmas dinner which I was a bit nervous about. A few nights before I went to pick up my turkey from our Butcher, I was having dreams that my turkey wouldnt fit in the oven. Luckily it went in perfectly although did have to have a few drinks to steady the nerves when thought everything wasnt going to be ready in time. Hubby was there to calm me down though ( and to pour some nice strong vodka's) So far no one has complained of food poisoning so it must have been OK although I always find when you cook for yourself it doesnt taste as good as if someone else cooks for you.

I love the run up to christmas more than the actual day itself, although all that might change next year when Archie will be older ( he's 17 months just now so not grasped what its all about ) We have a few traditions that we always try to stick to and they are 1. Always watch its a wonderful life & 2. to go to the christmas service on christmas eve. We used to go to midnight mass but since Archie came along we go to the earlier service which is usually about 5.30pm. I am going to try and add some piccies but if I cant get them on then hey ho will try another day as getting a bit tired so going to get my nice new jammies on that I got from santa and will hopefully have a bit more to say tomorrow x
